So this post will follow up on a few things touched on in my last post and some new happenings.
I will start with the job. My friends dad told me that they really liked me, but I have yet to be told when I can start work. I have been given the impression by all 3 people I have interviewed with for the job that it is essentially mine. I have had a total of four interviews with three different people. I was told final word will come by this Friday and if all goes as planned I should start Tuesday. I certainly hope this is the case as I am anxious to work and I already know what I would do with the money. All of it fairly productive with much being saved.
I got to hang out with some of my friends from high school at a bonfire and have a few beers and it was a good time. I was able to catch up with some of them and just get out of the house and relax.
I got to see one of my best friends yesterday for the first time this summer. I really missed seeing her on a weekly basis like I did at college. We do a fairly good job at keeping in touch. Her and I went to a car show, walked downtown Lapeer and played tennis.
The car show was really awesome. I love seeing old cars and how well people restore or even maintained these cars. Old cars is something I would like to get into one day. I would really like to buy a completely restored one to have and put my own touches on. I am not much of a mechanic so I would need to learn or pay someone to do a lot of things for me.
Walking Lapeer and some of the other towns we stopped in on the way to the car show was very nice. I love downtown areas, it is cool to see the unique shopping scene they offer in the smaller towns or cities.
Tennis was fun as well. It is a sport I love to play and I encourage people to take part in. It is a sport for all ages and is a great form of exercise. I am better than she is but it is fun to play with her regardless. If I played someone of an equal skill level I would likely be very competitive and lose sight of the fun.I am very competitive even when it is completely unnecessary.
She also took me to some nature trails where we went for a walk, and I must say it may have been a little late for that. The sun was about set so it was going to get dark pretty quickly and walking through a heavily wooded area did not help things. It was fun until we heard deer or something else walking because at one point it sounded like how a person would walk. I really hate the feeling that I am being watched without my knowledge. By no stretch was I afraid of being attacked as I certainly could defend myself from anything short of a person with a gun but it was just a very creepy feeling that did not stop until I was safely in my car. For my friend she said she was still stressed and creeped out by it even after we left to go talk in her driveway.
I got lost on my way home even though I was not actually lost. I took a wrong turn and was on a road I knew but because I wasn't where I expected to be I lost my bearings and had to call my friend to help me and regain my bearings. I have an excellent sense of direction. Even if I do not know where I am at usually I can figure out which direction I am going. Once I am certain of that I can almost always find a road I am familiar with if I have been in the area more than once. Once I got home I looked at a map to find my error and I felt silly but I am grateful to my friend for helping me regain my sense of direction and getting me to a road I know.
Overall my summer is going well and it has slowly gotten better. I love seeing friends and doing things that are productive. I really hate sitting around all day like I have most days. To bring the title full circle I drove to all of these things in my new car and it was nice to be able to drive instead of being the passenger.

My first post...kinda....
So, this is my first post but not really. I deleted other posts I had previously posted. One was about a hit Nick Kronwall put on Jakub Voracek, the other about the feeling of failure in my life.
I have been inspired to blog by a very important person in my life. I hope to utilize this blog to reflect and put my own life in perspective. I am going to utilize this section of my blog to chronicle my life. I will try to complete multiple posts a week about what I am doing. I am doing this for many personal reasons, I want to be a more positive person and I want to be a more open person. All that aside I also want to try something I have been very skeptical about to say the least.
This first post will be kind of long as I will be recapping my summer to date. First however, I want to touch on being skeptical. The only blogs I experience on a regular basis are opinion blogs on the topics of politics, sports and news in general. I do not think sharing ones life is appropriate on the internet but I realize being vague and only giving the broad details can make it okay, especially for more personal matters. I realized this as a result of me being so closed minded to an idea that I became incredibly critical of the same friend that inspired me to start this blog. I was judging someone without having experienced it myself so here I am, experiencing it!
My summer has been busy but rather uneventful. It started with a hell of a time trying to pack a car to come home. The trouble packing the car was mostly the result of me living in the same apartment for two years and never taking much home. I had to throw away many things I had hoped to keep. My sister ended up having to throw away a TV as a result of several failed attempts to repack the car at a rest stop because stuff had shifted as a result of driving and would not stay in place.
Once home I had to start applying for summer jobs. I applied at Meijer, Target, Subway, and Two Men and a Truck. My only interview to date from that group was Two Men and a Truck. The interview was incredibly pointless and could have been done over the phone. I was asked questioned listed in job requirements. To me applying for the job says I can meet the requirements. I was asked if I could lift 100 pounds and carry it, I was asked if I was okay without a set schedule, if I had reliable transportation, if I would take a drug test, if I would get my chauffeurs license and why I applied at Two Men and a Truck. I treated it like I do every other interview, I did research into the company, I had questions about recent news involving the company had a friend help me through a "mock" interview so I would be prepared to answer questions. I never got asked half the questions. Big surprise I was not offered a job. That is sarcasm given I interviewed for three internships and didn't get any secondary interviews.
My friends dad helped me get a job, kind of. I do not officially have the job as I am currently going through the interview process still. I have done two phone interviews and one in person. I hope to hear back by Friday if I can start work soon. The job is a good job and it will be nice to work.
With help from family I was able purchase a car which was much needed. I found the car on Craigslist and it was too good to be true. An older car, with very few miles for a car of that age. Also, a seller who had a soft spot for hard working college students who dropped her price $300 and making it a total of $600+ below blue book value. My uncle went with me to look at the car and informed me it was a deal for the price as the car was in good condition inside and out. This made me realize there are still incredibly caring and helpful people out there.
Having a car, and feeling like I have this job has given me a feeling of great success. I am very proud and want to share this success with all my close friends. Of course with most things there is one person I would rather share it with and I hope to do that soon.
Aside from the things I went into greater detail about this summer I have also enjoyed a great deal of time with my family and seeing one of my best friends that I rarely get to see. I have enjoyed the first week and some odd days of my summer vacation so far and I am looking forward to the rest!
Please leave your comments on what you would like updates on or how I can improve my blog to make it easier to read.
